What kind of nervous flyer are you?

Fear of flying isn't one thing. For some people it's the bumps, for others the closed door, the takeoff roar, the build-up, or the racing heart. Seven gentle questions will point you to the explanations and tools that fit you best.

There are no right or wrong answers, and nothing is saved or sent anywhere. Pick the answer that feels closest, even if it isn't perfect.

If you'd like a calm plan for the week before your flight, 7 days to your flight is a gentle, self-paced program: one short read, one technique and a calm audio track a day, finishing on the day you fly. Days 1–2 are free; the full program is $29 one-time. The free tools here stay free.

This quiz is a friendly way to reflect on how flying feels for you. It isn't a diagnosis or a medical assessment, and most people recognise a bit of several types. If fear of flying or anxiety is seriously affecting your life, the NHS suggests talking to a doctor: talking therapies such as CBT can help.1

  1. NHS: Panic disorder (what panic attacks feel like, and that they pass). NHS: Phobias (fear of flying and the treatments that help).
