Bumps and shaking in turbulence
Short answer
Uncomfortable, but airliners are built to handle far more than normal turbulence. The NTSB found turbulence accidents almost always involved injuries inside the cabin, generally with no damage to the airplane. Keep your seat belt on whenever you're seated.
Where this comes from
Why the bumps happen, why the wings won't come off, and the one simple thing that keeps you safe.
